Asia Fashion Week 2005
Closes In Style
10th Nov 2005 | The three-day fashion
extravaganza at Asia Fashion Week 2005 (AFW2005)
closed with a bang today, 10th November 2005, with
the announcement of the Chip Media Photo Video
Digital Photography Contest and Next Asia Contest
winners. Organised by Singex Exhibitions, Asia
Fashion Week is a stand-alone fashion trade
exhibition that serves as a one-stop merchandising
platform exclusively for fashion labels, brands,
designers and own brand manufacturing.
This year, Asia Fashion Week 2005 showcased the
latest Spring / Summer
collections from both regional and international
designers.
"It's been an exciting experience to be a part of
Asia Fashion Week
2005. As a buyer, I visit a number of recognized
shows in Europe, and I am
delighted to see innovative designs being displayed
in Asia. I was impressed by Amanda Brown and
Lab2Design collections, and I look forward to seeing
more talent emerge in the next few years at this
event," said Kevin Burns, RWB Agency, a distributor.
"We've seen a good mix of clothing brands at this
inaugural event. I am
encouraged by the quality and attention to detail
that the designers
have put into their collections. It's refreshing to
see new ideas and
creative options, and I look forward to seeing more
brands and labels at next
year's event," said Len Wright.
"Asia Fashion Week is a good platform for brands and
labels to reach
out to global buyers. This event has the potential
to grow into the leading
B2B event in this region, like those in Europe and
the US," said Paul
Cambridge, PCC Clothing Ltd.
"I was impressed by the level of creativity
demonstrated by the
upcoming designers at NEXT ASIA. The winning
collection will be displayed at Oxford Street, the
high street of fashion, creating visibility for the
talent
coming out of Asia Fashion Week," said Pablo Sueirus,
House of Fraser.
"The whole thing was good and I look forward to come
back next year"
said Amanda Brown, the Malaysian designer of "The
Coin Dress" that was also showcased at Asia Fashion
Week 2005.
"The concept of Asia Fashion Week is very good"
commented Amit Gupta,
an International designer from India.
The winner of NEXT ASIA Contest was announced just
before the grand
finale. Wendy Yee, the designer of ZarZamora, a
Singapore label walked away with the top prize for
her playful line of swimwear. The NEXT ASIA Contest
seeks to identify and recognise up-coming, cutting
edge Asian designers by providing them a platform to
showcase their work at a leading fashion store.
Mr. James Liang, on the other hand, was chosen as
the winner of the
Chip Media Photo Video Digital Photography Contest.
Asia Fashion Week 2006 has been set for September
27th - 29th next
year.
