Bali, April 2006 – The current
Indonesian economy has affected every companies'
marketing & promotion decisions. As Bali strives to
regain the trust of the international community,
ModaBali Foundation (for the seventh time),
struggles to provide an international promotion
medium for Indonesian business players in fashion &
textile, as well as bringing potential international
business interest to Indonesia, through an annual
international trade event, Bali Fashion Week.
After a thorough evaluation of
all economic aspects in Indonesia including the lack
of financial support from government to name a few,
ModaBali Foundation decided to postpone The Bali
Fashion Week VII that was scheduled to be held on 4
– 7 June 2006 to June 2007.
“Batik on Tencel®”
project that was an original part of this years Bali
Fashion Week VII will proceed as scheduled.
The project is supported by
Lenzing (PT. South Pacific Viscose – Indonesia),
senior batik artisan, Mr. KRT Daud Wiryo Hadi
Nagoro, and Indonesian fashion designers who
have succeeded in their international break through.
Following are the designers
involved in "Batik on Tencel" project:
Agnes Caroline
(Bali), Ali Charisma (Bali), Arifan Mas
(Jakarta), Denny Kho (Jakarta), Dina
Midiani (Jakarta), Musa Widyatmodjo
(Jakarta), Oka Diputra (Bali) and Taruna
Kusmayadi (Jakarta).
The aim of this project is to show additional
options of how to offer the traditional batik
techniques in Indonesian’s Khazana to the
international market fulfilling the various needs
and tastes (from ethnic to modern styles).
“Batik on Tencel®” collection
will be presented as part of the pre-launching of
Bali Fashion Week 2007 as well as promoted by
designers & sponsors, locally and internationally
through various events.
We hope that within the
following year, the economic conditions in Indonesia
will develop, where all business players have more
confidence in conducting their promotions locally as
well as internationally. We still highly believe in
the strength possessed by the Industry in Indonesia to
create competitive & unique products for both,
domestic and international consumption. However, the
great assistance and support from the Indonesian
government will be much needed in order to gain
maximum results from the Bali
Fashion Week event that functions as one of the
vehicles for promoting Indonesian fashion & textile
industry to the world market.
